Lusty Women and Sassy Turkeys (Though More of the Former Than the Latter)

What's the difference between a Thanksgiving turkey and a woman in lust?

True dat. Oh, yeah, but I like turkey, too!

Only one of them wants to be stuffed.

HA! You chuckled. Admit it. Yeah, yeah. It took me a whole two seconds to come up with that joke. But, seriously, to all my American friends - Happy Turkey Day! Just sit back, relax, maybe unbutton your pants (or Hell, just take them off completely), and enjoy the show! - and to everyone else, um . . . oh, look! There's a picture featuring a nice pair of breasts up above!

Today we're talking about Women in Lust, a collection of erotic stories edited by the fabulous Rachel Kramer Bussel and published by Cleis Press.
Hey, they got Snow White for a cover model!

Women in Lust is 209 pages (not counting the "About the Authors" and "About the Editor" sections at the end) of pure, steamy, lusty sex. Stories range from tales of cougar conquests to treks into the realm of masochistic pleasure. The writing is snappy and smart (much like I am before my morning caffeine dosage . . . except Women in Lust is significantly more pleasant.)

And did I mention it's sexy?

I'll be quite honest with you here - I am a very desensitized person when it comes to sex. I write about sex. I read about sex. I have sex on a regular basis (thank goodness.) I read a lot of erotica (for research purposes, of course) and since we're being honest here, I'll let you in on a little secret:

Most of what I read doesn't titillate me in the slightest. It just . . . doesn't. A lot of erotica reads the same. Oh, he has a cock? Excellent! So did the guy in that other story! And it's throbbing? Hoo boy! I bet I know what he's going to do with it!

Sure, going into reading a piece of erotic fiction, I think it's safe to assume certain facts. For example,

  1. Dude has a thingie. (And it's probably throbbing, though hopefully not turgid. Look that word up in the dictionary. Turgid also means pompous, people. Who wants to fuck a pompous cock?)
  2. Chick has a you-know-what. And it's probably wet, juicy, flooding, dripping, and/or soaked. (Damn, put a cork in that thing!)
  3. Dude is going to stick his thingie in Chick's you-know-what. And they're going to do it. Hooray!

Which is why I fancy erotica like that featured in Women in Lust. The stories star characters with personality, witty dialogue, and situations that feel like the perfect blend between delicious reality and sweet fantasy. They're well-written and a far cry from many cookie cutter stories I stumble across on a daily basis.

And for the record, I was distracted quite often while trying to read through this anthology. Yes, distracted. (Or, to phrase it another way, my you-know-what needed a cork in it. Or something a little bigger that is ironically spelled almost like cork. Except not.)

My Favorite Story:
Definitely, "Bite Me," by Lucy Hughes. It feels so real and I can completely relate with Jamie, the college-age student who likes pain with his sex. I love the dialogue (I have a bit of a fetish for brilliant dialogue) and the dynamic between the two main characters is fabulous.

My Least Favorite Story:
"Her, Him, and Them," by Aimee Pearl. Let me start off by saying: It's not a bad story. It's well-written and different. But I think its uniqueness is what turns me off. Let me explain.

When I read the title, I made an assumption (which we should never do!) I assumed this would be a story told from the POV of first her, and then him, and then in the end they (being the aforementioned her and him) would come together for a beautiful and erotic finale.

Not so. This seems to be three different stories all coexisting underneath one title. Or maybe I'm mistaken? See, that's the problem. It's confusing. I don't know if I'm following along with three different narrators or if it's the same narrator throughout. The confusion factor is the only reason it landed at the bottom of my list. Regardless, I still enjoyed the story and the different facets it presented.

Bottom Line?
Is it worth buying? Yes. Definitely yes. Buy it, read it, love it.

Thanks for reading.

But wait, there's more!
Oh! And for those of you who stuck it out to the end, I have a contest for you. Leave a comment below with your answer to the following question: "What do you lust for?" (Can be sexy, sweet, whatever. Be honest or get creative. Or both!) AND YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS. I need the email address so I can contact you if you win. Winner will be chosen at random using random.org and the contest will close Sunday, November 27th, at midnight CST.

And what do you win? Why, a copy of Women in Lust, of course. Either print (only available to those in the US) or Kindle (available to anyone!), depending on your preference. Good luck!

Don't forget you can also purchase the anthology on Amazon by clicking here or check out the Women in Lust blog (where you can find sexy excerpts) by clicking here! Have a great day, everyone!

Now, go get stuffed.

Ana Hart is a writer of erotica, romance, and everything in between. She lusts for Diet Dr Pepper, dark chocolate, Chinese food, and her boyfriend on a daily basis (though not always at the same time.) Ana also realizes that in some places, "stuffed" is slang for "pregnant." However, since Ana is a dirty American, she is obviously telling you to go stuff yourself with a . . . cork. Or whatever tickles your fancy.

I lust for my wife to embrace her "inner lustiness," which I've found she's afraid of giving in to. Which sucks, because she's so incredibly sexy when she lets herself go. If I win this book, I'm going to give it to her and hope it gives her some freedom to give in and let go.

  2. I lust for more time to let my inner nymphette out. Kids, work, writing, ugh! Well the writing's fun;) A night of passion here, a romantic or kinky weekend there, are just not enough. I should have been a porn star!

  3. I lust to put on something sexy for my husband, make him drool over me while I explore him and don't let him touch me, and then switch over and let him do whatever he wants to me while I'm not allowed to touch him.

Dang, I should write that... But it would be more fun to do it!
